Training Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before booking your place on a Union Yoga Teacher Training course.

By booking a place on the course, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms.

These terms apply to all students participating in the Union Yoga 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Programme (“Union Yoga”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

1. The 200-Hour Training Programme

Union Yoga Teacher Training is a 200-hour yoga teacher training programme.

Students are required to successfully complete all 200 required training hours, together with the other course requirements, in order to complete the programme and receive their course completion certificate.

The 200 hours may include the following, as communicated by Union Yoga as part of the programme:

  • In-person training

  • Practical teaching

  • Observation

  • Anatomy and philosophy study

  • Teaching practice

  • Assignments and assessments

  • Self-practice

  • Other required learning activities

Students are responsible for familiarising themselves with the course schedule and requirements and for ensuring that they complete all 200 required hours.

2. Attendance & Missed Hours

Attendance and participation are an essential part of the 200-hour training.

If you are unable to attend any scheduled training, you remain responsible for completing the hours you have missed.

Missed hours may need to be completed through:

  • Additional tuition

  • Catch-up sessions

  • Alternative learning arrangements agreed with Union Yoga

Where additional tuition or other support is required, additional fees may apply.

Any additional fees will be communicated to you before the additional tuition is provided.

Union Yoga will make reasonable efforts to work with students to identify an appropriate way of completing outstanding hours where this is possible. However, the responsibility for completing all 200 required hours remains with the student.

A student who has not completed all required hours may not be eligible to receive their course completion certificate until the outstanding hours and any other course requirements have been completed.

3. Course Fees & Payment

Your place on the Union Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training is secured once the required booking payment or agreed payment plan has been received.

Where a payment plan has been agreed, you remain responsible for making all payments according to the agreed schedule, subject to your statutory consumer rights.

Your course fee covers the training and materials specifically stated as being included in the programme.

Additional costs may apply for:

  • Missed-hour catch-up tuition

  • Private tuition

  • Replacement course materials

  • Other additional services requested or required by the student

Any additional cost will be communicated clearly before it is incurred.

4. Refunds & Cancellation

Places on the Union Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training are limited and are planned and resourced around the students who book onto the programme.

By booking your place, you are making a commitment to the full 9 month programme.

Course fees are generally non-refundable once the applicable cancellation period has expired, subject always to your statutory consumer rights.

If you withdraw from the programme, you remain responsible for any outstanding payments that are legally due under your booking agreement.

Nothing in these terms removes or restricts any legal right you may have to cancel or receive a refund under applicable UK consumer law.

In exceptional circumstances, Union Yoga may consider a transfer, deferral or other arrangement on a case-by-case basis. Any such arrangement is at Union Yoga's discretion and does not create an automatic entitlement.

5. Course Changes & Cancellation by Union Yoga

We reserve the right to make reasonable changes to course dates, teachers, venues, timetables or course content where this is necessary.

We will make reasonable efforts to provide students with as much notice as possible of significant changes.

If Union Yoga needs to cancel the course and cannot provide a suitable alternative, we will provide any refund required by applicable law.

6. Physical Practice & Personal Responsibility

Yoga is a physical practice and, like any physical activity, carries some inherent risk of injury.

By participating in the Union Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training, you acknowledge that you are responsible for listening to your own body and making appropriate decisions about your participation.

You agree to:

  • Work within your own physical limits

  • Listen to your body

  • Communicate with your teacher if something does not feel right

  • Stop or modify a practice when necessary

  • Ask for clarification or an alternative when needed

  • Respect your own limitations and those of others

  • Follow reasonable safety instructions given by the teaching team

  • Inform your teacher of any relevant injury, limitation or change in your ability to participate safely

You are never expected to push through pain in order to complete an exercise, posture or demonstration.

You may choose not to participate in a particular movement or practice if you do not feel it is appropriate for you.

7. Health, Injury & Medical Conditions

The 200-hour training involves physical movement and may also include pranayama, meditation, chanting and other traditional yoga practices.

You are responsible for determining whether participation is appropriate for you.

If you have a medical condition, injury, pregnancy, recent surgery, physical limitation or other health concern that may affect your ability to participate safely, you should seek appropriate professional medical advice before participating.

Please inform your teacher privately about anything relevant that may affect your participation.

Union Yoga teachers are not acting as doctors, physiotherapists or other healthcare professionals. Yoga teacher training is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, treatment or professional healthcare advice.

If you become unwell, experience pain or are injured during training, please stop and inform a member of the teaching team.

8. Modifications & Individual Needs

Every body is different.

Anatomical information, alignment guidance and teaching suggestions provided during the course are educational and do not constitute an individual medical assessment.

Teachers may offer modifications, alternatives or adjustments, but students remain responsible for deciding whether a particular movement or practice is appropriate for them.

Students are encouraged to ask questions and communicate openly with their teacher.

If a movement causes pain, dizziness, unusual discomfort or other concerning symptoms, stop the movement and inform your teacher.

9. Hands-On Adjustments & Consent

Hands-on adjustments may form part of the practical teacher training.

No student is required to receive a hands-on adjustment.

Students may decline an adjustment at any time and do not need to provide a reason.

Students undertaking teaching practice may learn how to offer appropriate physical adjustments to others. Any such practice must be undertaken respectfully, with appropriate consent and within the boundaries taught by Union Yoga.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

10. Breathwork & Other Practices

The 200-hour training may include pranayama, breath retention, meditation, chanting and other traditional yoga practices.

Students should participate according to their individual circumstances.

If a practice causes discomfort, dizziness, anxiety or other concerning symptoms, stop the practice and inform your teacher.

Students may discuss any concerns or limitations with the teaching team.

11. Accessibility & Individual Support

Union Yoga is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

If you have a disability, learning difference, neurodivergence, communication need, physical limitation or other requirement that may affect your participation, please speak to us as early as possible.

We will consider reasonable adjustments where practicable.

Students are encouraged to communicate their needs so that we can support them wherever reasonably possible.

12. Respectful Learning Environment

Union Yoga is committed to creating a learning environment that is welcoming, inclusive and respectful.

Students are expected to treat teachers, staff and fellow students with respect.

We reserve the right to take appropriate action where a student's behaviour negatively affects the safety or wellbeing of other students or teachers.

In serious circumstances, this may include removal from the course.

Any decision to remove a student from the course will be handled fairly and reasonably, taking the circumstances into account.

13. Confidentiality & Personal Boundaries

Students may share personal experiences, emotions, beliefs or other sensitive information during the training.

We ask all students to respect the privacy of their fellow students and not share another student's personal information or experiences outside the training environment without their permission.

Students are also responsible for maintaining appropriate professional boundaries when practising teaching with fellow students.

14. Course Completion & Certification

To successfully complete the Union Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training, students must fulfill the requirements of the programme.

This includes:

  • Completing all 200 required training hours

  • Completing required practical teaching

  • Completing assignments

  • Completing assessments

  • Demonstrating an appropriate level of understanding and competence

  • Meeting any other course requirements communicated as part of the programme

Completion of some or most of the training does not automatically constitute completion of the 200-hour programme.

If a student has outstanding hours or other requirements, these must be completed before certification can be issued.

Where additional tuition, reassessment or other support is required to complete outstanding requirements, additional fees may apply.

15. Teaching Practice & Professional Responsibility

Completion of the Union Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Training does not guarantee employment, clients, income or professional success as a yoga teacher.

Students are responsible for continuing to develop their knowledge, teaching skills and professional practice after completing the programme.

Once teaching professionally, graduates are responsible for obtaining any appropriate insurance, first aid training, additional qualifications, professional memberships and other requirements relevant to their individual circumstances and teaching environment.

16. Liability

Union Yoga takes reasonable steps to provide a safe and appropriate learning environment and to deliver the training with reasonable care and skill.

However, participation in physical activity carries inherent risks, and students are responsible for exercising appropriate judgement and communicating with their teacher about any concerns.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricted under applicable law.

Subject to the above, Union Yoga will not be responsible for loss or damage arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control or from a student's failure to follow reasonable instructions or to disclose relevant information affecting their ability to participate safely.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

17. Personal Belongings

Students are responsible for their own belongings while attending Union Yoga Teacher Training.

We recommend that valuables are not brought to training unless necessary.

Union Yoga cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings except where we are legally responsible.

18. Photography, Video & Social Media

From time to time, photographs or videos may be taken during training for Union Yoga's promotional or educational purposes.

We will seek appropriate consent before using identifiable images of students for promotional purposes.

Students must not photograph, record or share other students without their consent.
